Show goes beyond country pop

At fairground, Rascal Flatts gives taste of depth from upcoming album
By David Lindquist

In a Music City miracle, Rascal Flatts has left its "Nashville Boy Band" reputation in the dust and become a multidimensional entertainment machine -- with a heart.

At least that's the surprising evidence vocalist Gary LeVox, bass player Jay DeMarcus and guitarist Joe Don Rooney presented Friday night for a packed Grandstand at the Indiana State Fair.

Known up to now as shallow, showy purveyors of country pop, the members of Rascal Flatts may successfully recast their image thanks a single song -- "Take Me There," the first release from upcoming album "Still Feels Good."

As an inquisitor works to learn all about a new love, "Take Me There" radiates a caring sentiment every girl would love to hear and every guy would be wise to heed.

Rascal Flatts followed this monster hit in the making with humanist anthem "My Wish," a Disney-soaked toast to dreams coming true.
LeVox -- the owner of strong, boundless vocal range and just enough twang to conquer Nashville -- nailed every note of "My Wish."
