Kelly Clarkson in Vegas!

Kelly Clarkson was AMAZING live! We heard that she was great live, & she didn't let us down. Her opening act, Parachute, was great too. Kelly Clarkson was very active with the audience, she was really happy & excited, which kept us on our feet too! She's an amazing singer. It was totally worth going to!

Kelly Just Isn't Into The Concert

Clarkson more idle than 'Idol' The concise 75-minute set pleased fans, but Kelly Clarkson was more detached and distant as the night went on. By Jim Meyer, Special to the Star Tribune First "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson could have coasted on her stature, turning out broadly popular mainstream pop for decades. Instead, her latest album, "My December," is born of a genuinely dark phase. America's sweetheart defied big-name producers -- and her record label president -- to write her own songs for a CD that was less about instant success and more true to her angry, desperate feelings at the time. It didn't work because the undistinctive rockers downplayed her sterling voice and overshadowed the more winning acoustic soul tunes. In concert Friday at the State Theatre in Minneapolis, Clarkson, 25, managed to unify her conflicting urges into a concise 75-minute program that pleased a near-capacity crowd, but the singer herself seemed more and more detached as the evening progressed. The Texas native and her seven-member band front-loaded the show with new rock numbers like "One Minute" and "Never Again," as if to get them out of the way. When she brought the energy and volume down a notch for the nakedly personal "Maybe," it was refreshing to actually hear her voice clearly and be reminded of its raw power. Slow numbers are clearly her strength, but fans may disagree. Her hardest rocking song, "Hole," brought a noticeable lift to the crowd. Then she peaked on an ensuing quiet, three-song set: a piano-and-vocal rendition of her smash "Because of You," Patty Griffin's stirring "Up to the Mountain (MLK Song)" and a lovely version of "Be Still" with an unplugged full band. Kelly Sings with Soul In Boston

Genuine: Kelly Clarkson played the Orpheum last night By Christopher John Treacy The scrooge in me is still annoyed that Kelly Clarkson apologized to stuffy old Clive Davis - especially after I went to bat for her new CD. But the fact remains that all the speculation over whether she made a mistake in releasing her self-penned “My December” only perpetuates the problem at the argument’s core: rock and roll isn’t meant to be so calculated. Last I checked, it’s still considered a raw form of self-expression. Also tiring is all the talk about how Clarkson’s not a convincing-enough bad girl; does that mean she can’t occasionally take the liberty to play one through her music? Does she need to live it in order to sing it? It might help, but really the answer is no. And at the Orpheum last night, Clarkson proved that indeed, she can sing it - and with feeling. After a pleasant but creatively limited set from piano-pop pretty boy John McLaughlin, the curtains parted to reveal Clarkson and her seven-piece band as if frozen in time during the cover photo shoot for the new CD: gimmicky, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t look cool. Kicking into the punchy electro-pop number “One Minute,” it quickly became undeniable to the extremely enthused, near-capacity crowd: The 25-year-old American Idol sounded fantastic. Looking like a well-nourished Olsen twin in a cobalt-blue silk camisole and black leggings with shoulder-length blonde locks, Clarkson demonstrated that anger never goes out of fashion with a string of confidently belted high-energy man-haters: “Behind These Hazel Eyes,” “Don’t Waste Your Time,” and an absolutely ferocious “Never Again,” followed by the slightly less venomous “Maybe.” But the respite was short-lived - during “Hole,” she exposed her canines once again..

Kelly is back after canceled tour...Girl Power Rocks

KELLY'S GREEN BUT STILL GREAT By DAN AQUILANTE October 16, 2007 -- KELLY Clarkson - the test-tube pop star who's managed to shed the stigma of "American Idol" and spit in the collective eye of her record-company handlers with the release of her latest, self-penned CD - inched closer to complete music credibility with a short and mostly sweet show at the Beacon Theatre. At Sunday's gig, the first of three concluding tonight, Clarkson was a mix of giddy, girlish excitement and straight-up self-assurance. She seemed to know her set was going to kill. Her own "whoo-whoos," punctuated by a triumphant raised fist at the end of most songs, and the cheers, hoots and whistles of the house said she was right to be confident. But the show came dangerously close to disaster - it was only 75 minutes long, and she needed time to warm up. But once Clarkson found her groove she never drifted, even when she wrapped herself in a ballad. While the fans - a mix of kids, their parents and teens - were loudest for Clarkson's older tunes, the singer tapped her best emotional delivery on the new work from "My December." Early on, she unfolded the blade of "Never Again" - a seething song in which she scalps an old boyfriend with a vengeful tongue-lashing. She introduced that one by lamenting, "I have to go through all the losers to get to the good one." .

TORONTO -- Kelly Clarkson, the twentysomething Texan who won the first season of American Idol, might as well be an honourary Canadian.

At her Canadian concert debut on Saturday night at Massey Hall, two of the best songs, Breakaway and Where Is Your Heart, were written by two of our country's biggest musical exports, Avril Lavigne and Chantal Kreviazuk, respectively.

The newly blond Clarkson liked to call each of them, "one of your girls!"

The likable pop-rock-soul-blues singer, whose incredibly big voice combines the bluesy grittiness of Bonnie Raitt with the soulful precision of Mariah Carey, was clearly excited at having finally crossed the border.

"Well, I like Canada so far. Y'all are cool!" said Clarkson, who was greeted by enthusiastic screams for every one of her 19 songs, including covers of the Janis Joplin-style Piece Of My Heart, B.B. King's The Thrill Is Gone and Eurythmics' Sweet Dreams.

At first, she stood with her back to the sold-out crowd, a wildly diverse group of tweens and teenaged girls, their guardians, young couples, twentysomething and thirtysomething men, and older women. She began with three energetic pop-rockers that showed off her powerful pipes, Since UBeen Gone, Walk Away, and Gone, all from her 2004 sophomore effort, Breakaway.

 was less successful when she returned to material from her 2003 debut, Thankful, such as the ballad Just Missed The Train, which was followed by a bluesy trio, What's Up Lonely, the title track, and the Trouble With Love Is. In the latter, her four-piece band joined her at the front of the stage and later two violinists were added.

The newer songs -- such power ballads as Addicted, Because Of You and another notable pop-rocker Behind These Hazel Eyes (the next single) -- are simply better suited to her singing style. The exception was the rocking Miss Independent, the biggest single from her first album, which was the undisputed standout of her 70-minute set on Saturday night.

A petite thing, Clarkson showed off her cute frame in a halter top that exposed a tummy punctuated by a diamond in her belly button. Later she changed from hip-hugging black pants to an equally low-riding, multi-colored, ruffled long skirt.

The stage was decked-out like a Bedouin tent with plenty of flowing fabrics and hanging lamps.  Clarkson reworked some of the more popular tunes from her first album like Beautiful Disaster, which featured her backed solely by a violinist and electric guitarist, and the schmaltzy ballad A Moment Like This, which became a full-on rocker during the encore.

"That song is so much fun for us now!" Clarkson said of the latter.
