For those of you who don't know Anthony Howard Wilson, better known as Tony Wilson passed away yesterday of a heart attack due to complications arising from kidney cancer.

Wilson was a record label owner, radio presenter, tv host, nightclub manager, and journalist for Granada TV and the BBC. He hosted the program So It Goes on Granada and was probably the first to broadcast the revolutionary British form of punk when he booked the Sex Pistols for the second series.

He was the manager of many bands, some notable acts being The Durutti Column and A Certain Ratio. He was co-owner and manager of Factory Records which released albums from Joy Division(later New Order), The Happy Mondays, A Certain Ratio, The Durutti Column, and many others.

His nightclub, The Hacienda helped form the musical and cultural scene of Manchester that was named "Madchester".

Tony Wilson did this and much more, may he rest in peace.
