MTV To Rock Out For Dafur

MTV's 24-hour college network, mtvU, has announced the Campus Invasion Music Festival '07, an all-day event with a social conscious. The tour will stop in three big college cities - Austin, Atlanta, and Philadelphia

The line-up will vary in each city, and the performing artists include Dashboard Confessional, The Shins, The Academy Is..., Fabolous, Gym Class Heroes, Shiny Toy Guns, Rich Boy, The Rapture and many others.

The tour is designed to generate awareness of the ongoing genocide in Darfur and funding to help end the bloodshed in the region.
Through partnerships with artists - as well as the Save Darfur Coalition, an alliance of 180 organizations committed to mobilizing a unified response to the atrocities in Sudan - the shows will be an extension of mtvU's Sudan campaign.

"College students, music and activism have long been a formula for social change and Campus Invasion '07 will harness this combination to continue fighting the genocide raging in Darfur," mtvU GM Stephen Friedman said. "We're heartened to have so many respected, groundbreaking artists join us for these concerts of amazing live music, awareness and action."
